I’m not sure there’s a more important time in the year for reconsidering how to keep an honest perspective in our ministry than early spring. While the cold and dark of winter are passing, the warm and sunlight of spring is not yet a reality. How is it that we fully live in the reality of resurrection while surrounded by death, despair, dysfunction, and discouragement? Within the daily work of ministry, which is often marked by corporate conflicts, personal struggles, and professional disappointments, we are also called to lead toward the future reality of God which is not fully realized in the here and now. Living in the meantime, the time between resurrection and future reality, is the place we are called to serve.
